Job Overview

This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining smart irrigation systems tailored for smallholder and commercial farms in Ghana. The ideal candidate will collaborate with local farmers, agronomists, and technology partners to optimize water usage and crop yields. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy IoT-enabled irrigation systems using sensors and automation tools
  • Conduct site assessments to determine water distribution needs
  • Train farmers on system operation and maintenance
  • Collaborate with agronomists to align irrigation schedules with crop cycles
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Prepare technical reports and maintenance schedules

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in agricultural engineering software (AutoCAD, GIS)
  • Experience with IoT devices and smart farming technologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills in mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Excellent communication abilities for farmer training
  • Knowledge of Ghana’s agricultural regulations and water management policies
  • Fluency in English and basic local language (e.g., Twi or Ewe)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Postgraduate certification in Smart Agriculture preferred

Experience

  • 3-5 years in agricultural technology or irrigation system design
  • Proven track record in deploying IoT solutions in rural settings
  • Experience working with Ghanaian farming communities

Salary

15,000 – 20,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and performance.
