Job Overview

Cargill Ghana Limited is seeking a Precision Livestock Farming Specialist to lead the implementation of IoT-driven livestock monitoring systems in Koforidua. This role will focus on optimizing animal health, feed efficiency, and farm productivity through data-driven decision-making. The successful candidate will collaborate with local farmers, technology providers, and agricultural experts to scale sustainable livestock practices across Ghana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy precision livestock farming (PLF) systems using IoT sensors, GPS tracking, and AI analytics.
  • Monitor and analyze livestock health metrics to improve disease prevention and breeding outcomes.
  • Train farmers on the use of digital tools for feed management, milking efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate with agronomists to integrate PLF data with crop-livestock systems for circular agriculture.
  • Conduct field audits to assess farm performance and recommend technology upgrades.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in IoT-based livestock monitoring technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and Ghanaian agricultural systems.
  • Experience in project management and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Fluency in Twi or other local languages preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in AgriTech or Data Science is an advantage.

Experience

  • 3-5 years in agricultural technology, livestock management, or agribusiness consulting.
  • Proven track record in implementing smart farming solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Salary

18,000 – 28,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
