Job Overview
The Credit Risk Analyst will play a pivotal role in assessing the creditworthiness of corporate and SME clients operating in the Aflao region and beyond. Reporting to the Head of Credit Risk, the analyst will evaluate loan applications, monitor existing portfolios, and provide actionable insights to mitigate potential losses. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive credit assessments for new loan proposals, including financial statement analysis, cash‑flow modeling, and industry risk evaluation.
- Monitor and review the performance of existing credit exposures, identifying early warning signals and recommending remedial actions.
- Prepare detailed credit risk reports and presentations for senior management and the Credit Committee.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers to structure credit facilities that align with client needs and bank risk appetite.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes, Basel III requirements, and local banking guidelines to ensure compliance.
- Utilize credit scoring models and data analytics tools to enhance risk assessment accuracy.
- Participate in portfolio stress‑testing exercises and contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in Excel, VBA, and statistical software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder interaction.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of Ghanaian banking regulations and credit risk frameworks.
- Team‑player mindset with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent are advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should possess 2‑4 years of experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, or related financial roles within a banking or financial services environment. Experience with SME and trade finance portfolios is highly valued.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from SSP 3,000 to SSP 5,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
