Job Overview
The Artificial Intelligence Ethics Officer will lead Schneider Electric Ghana’s AI ethics program, guiding the responsible design, development, and deployment of AI solutions across the organization. This role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams, establishing governance frameworks, and ensuring compliance with local and international regulations. The officer will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing strategic insights on ethical risks, bias mitigation, and data privacy. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an AI ethics framework aligned with international standards such as IEEE, OECD, and EU AI Act.
- Conduct risk assessments for AI projects, identifying potential bias, fairness, transparency, and privacy concerns.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and legal teams to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.
- Provide training and workshops on AI ethics, responsible AI practices, and data governance for staff at all levels.
- Monitor emerging regulations and industry best practices, updating internal policies accordingly.
- Lead the creation of documentation, audit trails, and reporting mechanisms for AI governance.
- Advise senior leadership on strategic decisions involving AI, ensuring alignment with Schneider Electric’s sustainability and corporate responsibility goals.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators, academic institutions, and civil society, to promote transparent AI practices.
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of AI technologies, machine learning pipelines, and data analytics.
- Strong knowledge of ethical frameworks, bias detection techniques, and fairness metrics.
- Experience with data privacy regulations such as GDPR and Ghana’s Data Protection Act.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable policies.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
Education
A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Ethics, Philosophy of Technology, Law, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications in AI ethics, data governance, or privacy (e.g., Certified Information Privacy Professional) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five years of professional experience in AI ethics, data governance, compliance, or a related field. Prior experience in a multinational technology environment and exposure to the Ghanaian regulatory landscape will be considered an advantage.
Salary
The annual salary range for this position is 120,000 – 180,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and equity incentives may be offered.
