Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Credit Analyst will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the portfolio of renewable energy credits (RECs) generated by TotalEnergies’ wind, solar, and bio‑energy assets in Ghana. The analyst will be responsible for tracking credit generation, ensuring compliance with national and international standards, and providing strategic insights to maximize revenue streams from REC trading and reporting. This position collaborates closely with the finance, sustainability, and legal teams to align credit strategies with corporate ESG goals and regulatory requirements. The role offers exposure to cutting‑edge renewable finance mechanisms and contributes to Ghana’s transition to a greener economy.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and verify the generation of renewable energy credits from all TotalEnergies renewable assets in Ghana.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual REC reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
- Analyze market trends, pricing, and demand for RECs to recommend optimal trading strategies.
- Collaborate with the sustainability team to align REC activities with ESG reporting frameworks such as GRI and SASB.
- Ensure compliance with Ghana Energy Commission regulations and international standards like the Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO).
- Support the finance department in forecasting REC revenue and integrating it into the overall financial model.
- Develop and maintain databases tracking REC issuance, ownership, and transaction history.
- Participate in audits and provide documentation for third‑party verification of REC claims.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.
- In‑depth understanding of renewable energy markets, especially REC mechanisms.
- Knowledge of Ghanaian energy regulations and international carbon credit standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with finance, legal, and sustainability teams.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data handling.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CFA, CFA ESG, or a Renewable Energy Finance credential are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in energy finance, carbon markets, or sustainability reporting. Prior exposure to renewable energy credit accounting or trading is highly preferred.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 30,000 to SSP 45,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and REC‑linked incentives are part of the compensation package.
