Job Overview
The Director of Sustainable Retail Operations will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of sustainability strategies across all Shoprite stores in Ghana. Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, this role will collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including procurement, logistics, marketing, and finance—to embed eco‑friendly practices throughout the retail value chain. The successful candidate will champion initiatives such as energy efficiency upgrades, waste reduction programs, sustainable sourcing, and community engagement projects. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability roadmap aligned with corporate goals and Ghanaian environmental regulations.
- Lead store‑level energy management projects, including LED retrofits, renewable energy integration, and smart HVAC controls.
- Implement waste segregation, recycling, and food waste reduction programs across all retail locations.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to increase the proportion of locally sourced, ethically produced goods.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to carbon emissions, water usage, and waste diversion, providing regular reports to senior leadership.
- Engage with community partners, NGOs, and government agencies to promote sustainability education and outreach.
- Drive employee awareness through training sessions, sustainability workshops, and incentive programs.
- Ensure compliance with national and international standards such as ISO 14001 and the Ghana Sustainable Development Goals.

Salary
