Job Overview

The Network Optimization Engineer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of MTN Ghana’s radio access network (RAN) in the Kumasi region. Reporting to the Senior Network Optimization Manager, the incumbent will analyze network data, design optimization strategies, and implement solutions that improve coverage, capacity, and quality of service. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive drive tests and performance measurements to identify network bottlenecks.
• Analyze KPI trends and generate actionable insights for capacity planning.
• Develop and implement radio parameter adjustments to optimize coverage and throughput.
• Collaborate with RF engineers, planning teams, and field technicians to execute optimization projects.
• Monitor post‑implementation performance and validate improvement outcomes.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to senior management.
• Stay updated with emerging 4G/5G technologies and recommend upgrades.
• Support emergency network troubleshooting and rapid restoration activities.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in network performance tools (e.g., Atoll, TEMS, NEMO).
• In‑depth knowledge of LTE/5G radio principles and optimization techniques.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for data automation.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Nokia NRS, or equivalent are advantageous.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in mobile network optimization, preferably within a major telecom operator or a reputable consultancy serving the telecom sector.
