Job Overview

The Chief Credit Risk Officer (CCRO) will lead Ecobank Ghana’s credit risk function, shaping the strategic direction of credit risk management across all business lines. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive credit risk framework that supports the bank’s strategic objectives and complies with Basel III and local regulatory standards.
  • Lead the credit risk assessment process for new loan proposals, large exposures, and portfolio reviews, ensuring rigorous analysis and appropriate risk grading.
  • Monitor credit risk metrics, portfolio performance, and emerging risk trends, providing timely insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of credit risk models, stress testing, and scenario analysis to anticipate potential losses.
  • Collaborate with the Credit Operations, Legal, and Compliance teams to enforce credit policies and resolve risk‑related issues.
  • Present credit risk reports and risk‑adjusted performance indicators to the Board Risk Committee and external regulators.
  • Mentor and develop a high‑performing credit risk team, fostering a culture of analytical rigor and ethical decision‑making.

Required Skills

Education

The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of progressive experience in credit risk management, with a minimum of five years in a senior leadership role within a reputable bank or financial institution.
