Job Overview
The Chief Data Privacy Officer (CDPO) will lead Microsoft Ghana’s data protection strategy, ensuring compliance with Ghanaian data privacy laws, the African Union’s data protection framework, and Microsoft’s internal policies. The CDPO will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including legal, security, product, and engineering, to embed privacy by design into all solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data privacy program aligned with local and international regulations.
- Lead privacy impact assessments (PIAs) for new products, services, and business initiatives.
- Advise senior leadership on privacy risks, mitigation strategies, and regulatory changes.
- Establish and oversee incident response procedures for data breaches, ensuring timely reporting and remediation.
- Conduct regular audits and monitoring to verify compliance across all business units.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities and industry bodies.
- Educate and train employees on privacy policies, best practices, and emerging threats.
- Collaborate with the security team to integrate privacy controls into the overall cybersecurity framework.
- Prepare and present privacy reports to the board and external stakeholders.
- Drive a culture of privacy awareness throughout the organization.
Required Skills
- Deep knowledge of Ghana’s Data Protection Act, GDPR, and other relevant privacy regulations.
- Proven experience in designing and managing enterprise‑wide privacy programs.
- Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable technical controls.
- Leadership experience with a track record of influencing senior executives.
- Familiarity with cloud environments, especially Microsoft Azure, and data lifecycle management.
- Certification such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent is highly desirable.
Education
A Master’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Additional certifications in privacy, data protection, or information governance will be considered an advantage.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of progressive experience in data privacy, compliance, or information security, with a minimum of five years in a leadership role overseeing privacy initiatives in a multinational organization.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 120,000 to SSP 180,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health benefits, and retirement contributions.
