Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Legal Counsel to lead our legal department and provide expert guidance on all legal matters affecting the firm’s operations in Ghana and the wider region. This role is critical in managing legal risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the firm’s strategic objectives through robust legal frameworks. You will act as a key advisor to the leadership team, navigating complex commercial transactions, employment laws, and corporate governance issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice to the Board of Directors and senior management on complex regulatory and commercial matters.
  • Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of all commercial contracts and service level agreements.
  • Manage and mitigate legal risks across all business units to ensure full compliance with local and international laws.
  • Lead the internal legal team and manage relationships with external counsel and regulatory bodies.

Education

A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is mandatory, supplemented by a professional qualification such as a Call to Bar or Ghana Bar Professional Course. A Master of Laws (LLM) or an MBA in Corporate Law is highly preferred to ensure a comprehensive understanding of global business legalities.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience, with a significant portion spent in a senior legal role within a professional services firm or a large multinational corporation.
