Job Overview

AIG Ghana Limited is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter to join its growing team in Kintampo. Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze insurance applications to assess risk exposure and determine eligibility.
  • Evaluate financial, operational, and environmental factors to calculate appropriate premium rates.

  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance with Ghanaian insurance standards.
  • Prepare detailed underwriting reports and maintain accurate records of all assessments.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with proficiency in risk assessment tools.
  • Excellent decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance policies, actuarial principles, and financial modeling.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and insurance-specific software (e.g., Guidewire, DuckCreek).
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on long-term risk management solutions.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Insurance Institute) are a plus.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in insurance underwriting or financial risk analysis.
  • Proven track record in evaluating complex risk scenarios.
  • Experience in the Ghanaian insurance market is preferred.

Salary

8000 – 12000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and performance.
