Job Overview
We are seeking a visionary Sustainable Packaging Design Specialist to lead the development of cutting-edge packaging solutions tailored for Ghana’s agricultural and consumer goods sectors. This role combines creative design expertise with environmental stewardship to create packaging that meets market demands while minimizing ecological footprints.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype sustainable packaging solutions using biodegradable, compostable, or recyclable materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align packaging designs with brand identity and product requirements.
- Conduct lifecycle assessments to evaluate environmental impacts of packaging materials and processes.
- Research and integrate emerging trends in sustainable design, such as zero-waste packaging and carbon-neutral production.
- Ensure compliance with Ghanaian and international sustainability certification standards (e.g., FSC, Cradle to Cradle).
Required Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and 3D modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of material science, particularly eco-friendly alternatives like mycelium-based composites.
- Experience in cost-benefit analysis for sustainable packaging implementations.
- Creativity in solving packaging challenges for perishable goods and bulk commodities.
- Excellent communication skills to present design concepts to stakeholders.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Environmental Science, or a related field. Advanced certifications in sustainable design (e.g., LEED, Green Building) are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in packaging design, with a proven track record in sustainable material applications. Experience in Ghana’s agricultural or consumer goods sectors is a plus.
Salary
120,000 – 150,000 SSP annually, commensurate with experience and portfolio impact.
