Job Overview
WWF Ghana seeks a passionate Biodiversity Researcher to lead field studies, analyze ecological data, and contribute to conservation strategies in Ghana’s coastal and forest ecosystems. This role supports global biodiversity goals while fostering local partnerships for sustainable environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys and data collection on flora and fauna in designated conservation areas.
- Analyze biodiversity trends using GIS and statistical tools to inform conservation policies.
- Collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to develop biodiversity protection programs.
- Prepare scientific reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of conservation initiatives on ecosystem health.
Required Skills
- Expertise in ecological sampling techniques and data analysis.
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and statistical packages (R, SPSS).
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and report writing.
- Experience in West African biodiversity ecosystems preferred.
- Ability to work in remote field conditions with minimal supervision.
Education
Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Conservation Biology, or a related discipline. A PhD is a plus.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in biodiversity research, conservation projects, or environmental consulting. Prior fieldwork in tropical ecosystems is advantageous.
Salary
15,000 – 20,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience.
