Job Overview
The Economic Development Specialist will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to the government of Ghana in the development and implementation of economic development policies and programs. The successful candidate will have a strong background in economics and development, and will be able to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including government officials, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations.
The Economic Development Specialist will be based in Ho, Ghana, and will report to the World Bank’s Ghana country office. The position will require frequent travel to Accra and other parts of the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance and support to the government of Ghana in the development and implementation of economic development policies and programs
- Work closely with government officials, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations to design and implement development projects
- Conduct economic analysis and research to inform development policy and programming
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation systems to track the impact of development projects
- Provide training and capacity building support to government officials and other stakeholders
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in economics, development studies, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in economic development, preferably in a developing country context
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Fluency in English, with proficiency in a local language an asset
Education
A Master’s degree in economics, development studies, or a related field is required. A Ph.D. in economics or a related field is an asset.
Experience
At least 5 years of experience in economic development, preferably in a developing country context, is required.
