Job Overview

The Industrial Safety Engineer will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of comprehensive safety programs across Bayer Ghana’s manufacturing site in Ho. Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will be responsible for risk assessments, incident investigations, and the promotion of a proactive safety culture. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive hazard analyses and risk assessments for all manufacturing processes.
  • Develop, update, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Provide safety training and awareness programs for all employees and contractors.
  • Monitor compliance with Ghanaian occupational health and safety regulations and international standards such as ISO 45001.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to integrate safety considerations into equipment design and maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior management.
  • Maintain safety data records, audit findings, and documentation in accordance with corporate standards.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, HAZOP, and FMEA studies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for training and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional safety initiatives.
  • Familiarity with safety management software and data analytics tools.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or NEBOSH are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of progressive experience in industrial safety within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the chemicals or pharmaceuticals sector. Experience with ISO 45001 implementation and audit processes is essential.

Salary
