Job Overview
WWF-Ghana is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marine Conservation Biologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our marine conservation efforts in Ghana, with a focus on protecting the country’s rich marine biodiversity. The Marine Conservation Biologist will work closely with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective conservation strategies.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine biology, conservation biology, or a related field. They will also have experience working in a similar role, preferably in a developing country context. The candidate should be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, and be willing to travel frequently to remote areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective conservation strategies for Ghana’s marine ecosystems
- Work closely with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote marine conservation
- Conduct research and monitoring to better understand Ghana’s marine biodiversity and the impacts of human activities on these ecosystems
- Develop and manage projects, including budgeting, reporting, and fundraising
- Collaborate with other WWF teams, including the Africa Region and International teams
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in marine biology, conservation biology, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience working in a similar role, preferably in a developing country context
- Strong knowledge of marine ecosystems and conservation principles
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
- Willingness to travel frequently to remote areas
Education
Master’s degree in marine biology, conservation biology, or a related field.
Experience
At least 5 years of experience working in a similar role, preferably in a developing country context.
