Job Overview

The Regulatory Affairs Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring GNPC’s operations comply with all local, regional, and international regulations governing the oil and gas industry. You will act as the primary liaison between GNPC and regulatory bodies, monitor legislative changes, and develop compliance strategies that safeguard the company’s reputation and operational continuity. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret Ghanaian petroleum laws, environmental statutes, and international standards such as OPEC, IOGP, and ISO 14001.
  • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory filings, permits, and licenses required for exploration, drilling, production, and export activities.
  • Maintain an up‑to‑date regulatory database and provide timely alerts to senior management on legislative changes.
  • Collaborate with legal, health‑safety, and engineering teams to embed compliance requirements into project plans and operational procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits and risk assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
  • Represent GNPC in meetings with the Ministry of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, and other regulatory authorities.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on regulatory best practices for staff at all levels.
  • Prepare comprehensive compliance reports for board meetings and external stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • In‑depth knowledge of Ghanaian oil and gas regulations and international compliance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and research abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting reports, permits, and stakeholder correspondence.
  • Proficiency in regulatory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or a postgraduate diploma in Energy Law are highly desirable.

Experience

Candidates must have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, or legal advisory roles within the oil and gas sector or a closely related industry. Experience working with Ghanaian regulatory agencies and familiarity with international standards will be considered a strong asset.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 2,500 to 4,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be provided in line with GNPC’s compensation policy.
