Job Summary

The Survey Assistant will support mine surveyors and leading hands in carrying out daily surveying activities at the mining site. The successful candidate will assist in mine mapping, pit surveying, stockpile measurements, drone survey preparation, GPS data collection, geological survey support, and mining field operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities (Job Description)

The Survey Assistant will be responsible for supporting mining survey operations and ensuring accurate survey data collection for mine development and production activities.

Mine Survey Operations

  • Assist in carrying out daily pit face pick-ups and staking Temporary Bench Marks (TBMs) on mining faces.
  • Support mine surveyors in conducting mine site measurements and field surveys.
  • Help ensure accurate positioning for mining excavation and production activities.
  • Participate in daily mine planning support activities.

Pit Design & Ore Marking

  • Assist with staking out pit designs and ore mark-outs as required.
  • Support the implementation of mining layouts and excavation boundaries.
  • Ensure survey accuracy to improve mining productivity and operational efficiency.

Geological Exploration Support

  • Assist in setting out and collecting survey points for:
    • Geology exploration activities
    • RC grade control drilling
    • Mineral exploration programs
  • Support geological teams with field measurements and coordinate recording.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Surveying or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Additional training in mining survey, geomatics, GIS, GPS mapping, or land surveying will be an advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1–3 years of working experience in:
    • Mine surveying
    • Land surveying
    • Mining operations
    • Similar industrial or technical environment

Experience working in open-pit mining operations, mineral exploration, geological mapping, or construction surveying is considered an added advantage.
