Job Overview

IFAD is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainable Agriculture Specialist to join its team in Wenchi, Ghana. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to the government and other stakeholders in the development and implementation of sustainable agriculture projects.

The Sustainable Agriculture Specialist will work closely with the IFAD country team, government officials, and other partners to identify opportunities for sustainable agriculture development and provide technical guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and support to the government and other stakeholders in the development and implementation of sustainable agriculture projects.
  • Conduct field visits to project sites to monitor progress and provide technical guidance and support to project staff and beneficiaries.
  • Develop and implement project work plans, budgets, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Collaborate with other IFAD staff and partners to ensure the successful implementation of projects.
  • Prepare and submit project reports, including progress reports, technical reports, and evaluation reports.

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture development, preferably in a developing country context.
  • Proven experience in project management, including project planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices, including conservation agriculture, organic farming, and agroforestry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field.

Experience

At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture development, preferably in a developing country context.
