Job Overview
This role involves designing and implementing urban mobility solutions tailored to Kumasi’s growing transportation needs. The consultant will collaborate with municipal authorities, urban planners, and technology providers to integrate public transit, cycling networks, and pedestrian pathways into a cohesive mobility ecosystem. The position emphasizes data-driven decision-making and the adoption of smart technologies to optimize traffic flow and reduce carbon emissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility studies for urban mobility projects, including traffic modeling and impact assessments.
- Develop integrated transportation plans that prioritize public transit, cycling, and pedestrian infrastructure.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to identify mobility challenges and co-create solutions.
- Utilize GIS and transportation software to design efficient route networks and optimize traffic signal systems.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of implemented mobility solutions using real-time data analytics.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in urban mobility planning or transportation engineering.
- Proficiency in transportation modeling tools (e.g., PTV Vissim, TransCAD) and GIS software.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting traffic data and urban trends.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Knowledge of sustainable urban development principles and smart city technologies.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred but not mandatory.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in urban mobility projects, preferably in African urban contexts.
- Experience with public-private partnerships in infrastructure development.
Salary
10,000 – 15,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
