Job Overview

The Construction Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in planning, executing, and supervising construction projects that align with LafargeHolcim Ghana’s strategic objectives. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and cost estimates in collaboration with senior management.
  • Coordinate with design teams to translate architectural and engineering drawings into actionable construction sequences.
  • Monitor daily site activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct regular progress meetings with contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders to address issues and mitigate risks.
  • Prepare and submit accurate progress reports, change orders, and documentation for client approval.
  • Implement value‑engineering solutions to optimise resource utilisation and reduce project costs.
  • Oversee procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and forecast financial performance.
  • Ensure all permits and regulatory approvals are obtained and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, civil engineering principles, and project management frameworks.
  • Proficiency in software such as MS Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and BIM tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on detail orientation.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills for interfacing with clients, contractors, and government agencies.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of Ghanaian building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in managing construction projects of medium to large scale, preferably within the West African market. Experience with cement and concrete products, as well as exposure to public‑private partnership (PPP) projects, will be viewed favorably.
