Job Overview

The Sustainable Urban Planning Specialist will lead initiatives to integrate renewable energy systems into urban development projects in Sekondi-Takoradi. This role requires expertise in balancing environmental sustainability with urban growth, ensuring compliance with international green building standards, and collaborating with local stakeholders to create resilient cities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement urban planning strategies that incorporate renewable energy solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for wind and solar energy integration in urban infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with municipal authorities to align projects with national sustainability goals.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for investors and government agencies.
  • Monitor environmental impact assessments for urban development projects.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in GIS mapping and urban design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS).
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating urban energy consumption patterns.
  • Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development is an advantage.

Experience

3-5 years of experience in urban planning, renewable energy projects, or sustainable infrastructure development. Prior experience in Ghana or West Africa is preferred.

Salary

150,000 – 200,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
