Job Overview
The Retail Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations in Kumasi, ensuring that sales targets, customer service standards, and profitability goals are consistently met. This position reports directly to the Regional Operations Director and collaborates closely with department heads, including merchandising, logistics, human resources, and finance. The role demands a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of retail best practices. The successful candidate will lead a team of supervisors and associates, implement process improvements, and maintain compliance with corporate policies and local regulations. The position also involves regular interaction with suppliers, community partners, and corporate stakeholders to foster strong relationships and drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily store operations, including sales floor management, inventory control, and cash handling.
- Develop and execute operational strategies to achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as shrinkage, turnover, and customer satisfaction, and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene standards in accordance with Ghanaian regulations.
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate store supervisors and front‑line staff to build a high‑performing team.
- Coordinate with the merchandising team to optimize product placement, promotions, and stock replenishment.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate terms, and oversee the receipt and quality inspection of goods.
- Prepare operational reports for senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities.
- Drive loss prevention initiatives and oversee security protocols.
- Champion sustainability practices, including waste reduction and energy efficiency, aligning with Shoprite’s corporate responsibility goals.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and people‑management abilities with a track record of building cohesive teams.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret sales data and make data‑driven decisions.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in Project Management, Lean Six Sigma, or Retail Operations are highly regarded.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in retail operations, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience in a multi‑store environment or within a large supermarket chain is preferred.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 2,500 to 4,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are offered in line with store profitability and individual contributions.
